I saw them open for The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, (what an odd pairing!), at the Boston Garden in Boston, Mass. Lowell Levinger noted in the interview on your site how they didn't like playing those big venues, and yup. The Youngbloods were not Cream, and my main memory/impression of that show is them struggling with a bad sound system in a large arena, with an audience that was, well, an Arthur Brown crowd. But he was the God of Hellfire, and he did bring us fire. Banana could have tried lighting his hair on fire I suppose…..I then saw them at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., where they were the feature act in the large fieldhouse. They were a trio on those occasions; it must have been '69/'70 of course. Again it wasn't that memorable for me--- I just didn't think their sound was big enough as a trio for that kind of situation. ” John Winship.
