HULLABALOO (May 1967). “Gedman was invited to witness ‘a musical transfusion to the pop music scene’ as the invitation read, by THE YOUNGBLOODS. This was at The Georgian Ballroom at the Americana Hotel here (NY?) a while ago. If you know of THE YOUNGBLOODS at all, you will know how really exciting they are in live performance. I saw them for the first time at the Café Au Go Go in The Village and they really are something else“.

“The Youngbloods played at my prep school's senior dance on May 20, 1967, The Loomis School, Windsor, Ct. I was impressed with how tight they were and it's funny: my most vivid memories of the material are the songs they did from "Earth Music" which was about 4 months from being released. They did two sets, and they opened the first one with "Euphoria", as I recall. I also specifically remember "Dreamer's Dream", "Too Much Monkey Business", and "Reason to Believe" (Jesse asking the crowd if any of us had ever heard of Tim Hardin. Well yeah.) I also specifically remember "Grizzly Bear" because of Banana's thick guitar tone on the solo, and "One Note Man", because I was interested in sorting out who was doing what on the break as Banana could get such a guitar like tone on his electric piano. I was excited about seeing them, and it couldn't have been more satisfying“. John Winship.
